Downing Street,

January, 1928.

Sir,

I have, etc., to refer to my Conf.

(9) (11)

telegram of the 10th of December, and to

your reply of the 28th of December, on the

subject of the Annual Report of the Hong

Kong Superintendent of Imports and Exports

for 1926. I note that such steps as are

now possible are being taken to remedy the

error made in publishing this Report.

2.

I should like, however, to raise

in this connection the general question

of the transmission of Annual Departmental

Reports. The present practice appears

to be not to send these to me separately

but in a bound volume of departmental

reports. As a considerable time elapses

before this is ready, it is generally

many months after the end of the year

before the departmental reports are

received, e.g., those for 1925 were

received in February 1927.
